It is a medium-high-end product with a powerful photo sensor and 20 minutes to recharge fully, but it needs a bit of character.
“Will and power” is a slogan that is well suited to the new Xiaomi 12T Pro, proving capable of satisfying even the most demanding user with advanced technological features without having to allocate the typical budget for a top-of-the-range. In the area of under 900 euros (in the price list: it’s cheaper online), this smartphone is concrete and pragmatic: it has everything you need and even more.

A telephone that uses the emotional leverage of the record 200-megapixel camera and ultra-fast 120 Hz charging but which remembers the fundamental elements to give the consumer a responsive product that is up to the required tasks.
Design and displays
It may be the only aspect in which it is necessary to make a small compromise. Although the aesthetics align with Xiaomi’s 12 Series, the polycarbonate phone profile depletes it slightly on this model. Even to the touch, it needs to be better with the other devices in the series, even though the coating is made of glass. It is also not very light (205 grams) or thin (8.6 mm).
This step of difference is also perceived in the 6.67-inch 120 Hz CrystalRes Amoled display with AdaptiveSync starting from 30 Hz. A good quality panel, especially in producing colors and with an excellent white balance, is partially limited in the peak brightness that stops at 900 nits. More than sufficient in indoor environments but not the best when using the phone in direct sunlight. However, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision standards are supported.
On this front, there is nothing to complain about; indeed, the Xiaomi 12T Pro proves to be exceptionally brilliant and dynamic, thanks obviously to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 chipset and sound software engineering. The 12 GB of RAM (of the model we tested) and the speed of the 128 or 256 GB UFS 3.1 storage memory also offer the device an extra boost.
The MIUI 13 Global interface based on Android 12 helps to have a good feeling with the phone, especially the many customization possibilities that are appreciated. Good call quality and reception, even in 5G. The stereo speakers signed by Harman Kardon and the presence of Dolby Atmos confirm excellent sound quality.

The phone is also equipped with all the other technological assets typical of high-end models: wifi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, dual sim and full support for electronic sims. Unfortunately, the IP68 certification is absent, so it is not waterproof.
The dialer is the stock from Google with the possibility of recording calls. Finally, Xiaomi has returned to mounting an optical and non-virtual proximity sensor, making the related functions much more precise and reliable. Robust haptic feedback and fast fingerprint reader.
The Xiaomi 12T Pro cannot technically be considered an actual camera phone, but the imaging department is up to any task. However, the merit is linked exclusively to the primary 200 MP sensor with f / 1.7 aperture and optical stabilization. There is also an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera with f/2.2 aperture and 120° FOV angle, a 2MP macro camera and a 20MP front camera with f/2.2 aperture.
The 200-megapixel camera uses the same sensor that we have seen and appreciated on the Motorola edge 30 Ultra, a valuable asset, especially for those aiming for a full definition or wanting to get zoom by cropping images but without losing detail. The price to pay for this generous amount of pixels and the (exaggerated) weight of the photos can even reach 70 MB. Luckily, the 4-in-1 pixel binning function allows you to obtain equally high-quality images while shooting at 12 megapixels.
The 200 MP Samsung HP1 sensor also allows the phone to have a 2X optical zoom simply by making a crop directly from the sensor and, therefore, without integrating an additional camera. A 2X zoom that becomes particularly effective in portraits with a pleasing bokeh effect.
In general, the main chamber offers high performance without flaws, clearly detaching itself from the quality of the other two less brilliant sections. The videos are more than valid, even in 8K at 24 fps, but only using the reference sensor.
It’s another plus of the Xiaomi 12T Pro. Thanks to a 5000 mAh battery, the built-in processor and software optimization, you get to the end of the day with a reasonable margin of safety. With medium-intensive use, the residual charge is approximately 30%. But for any need in the package, there is a 120W charger with AdaptiveCharge functions that extends battery life. It takes less than 20 minutes to get the phone from 0 to 100.
Considering that the Xiaomi 12T Pro list price starts at 849 euros, this smartphone has its reason even more so if you get some promotion that allows you to take the device home with an even more exciting discount. It is not an absolute top-of-the-range, but it performs all the essential functions well and offers consumers a photo sensor of undoubted quality and ultra-fast charging.
