AirPods Pro 2 Are Official: Better ANC And Longer Battery Life

Apple introduced the AirPods Pro 2  at its “Far Out” event alongside the new iPhone 14s. NextPit shows you all the changes Apple’s new true wireless headphones brought.

During the Apple event, the attention naturally fell once again on the iPhone 14, but the presentation of the new AirPods Pro 2 was also eagerly awaited. Visually, much has stayed the same since the first AirPods Pro of 2019. But from a functional point of view, Apple has, of course, taken a big step forward!

Apple AirPods Pro 2: What’s New

After lots of rumors about if and how the design changed, it remained the same. The iconic uppers, therefore, remain unchanged. Technically, however, things have changed. It is now the H2 chip that powers the headphones and which, according to Apple, should ensure “exceptional sound quality.” The headphones are also equipped with a new driver and a new amplifier.

During the keynote, Apple, unfortunately, only revealed a little about the new revamped drivers but spoke enthusiastically about Spatial Audio or custom Spatial Audio.

For the latter, however, iOS 16 is required. The trick is exciting: you scan the shape of your ears and your head, and iOS calculates a Head-Related Transfer-Function that adapts the sound to the shape of your ears and your head. Also, the ANC should have been improved significantly. Thanks to “Advanced Computation Audio,” noise should be attenuated twice as well as with the first generation.

Apple has also looked into the “Adaptive Transparency” transparency mode, an optimized function for which surrounding noise is analyzed 48,000 times per second. The transparent manner should even be able to filter out construction noise! The ergonomics of the headphones have also been optimized: New touch sensors make it possible, for example, to change the volume with a simple swipe gesture on the stems. 

For better adaptation, Apple now offers four different sizes of tips: You will have the choice between sizes L, M, S and  The charging case speaker is also new. Thanks to the U1 chip and the “Where is AirPods” function, you can find the AirPods at any time, and thanks to the speaker, a sound will help you find the case. It is also now possible to attach a cord to the chance to wear it comfortably on the wrist.

Finally, Apple has also improved autonomy. With a full charge, it can last six hours with the ANC active, which is 33% better than before. With the charging case, you will get a total autonomy of 30 hours. It’s still six hours more than before. And are you charging for all this? The justified question is because the Cupertino company has also made improvements: you can still use the Lightning port. But you can also opt for inductive charging via a MagSafe charger or other Qi-compatible chargers.
